All about waste!
We had a visitor called Janet from the Sustainability Trust come and talk to us about waste. She presented a slide show to the middle and junior syndicate members of the enviro group. It was really interesting.
Here is some of the information we learnt:
Glass is made out of sand.
Plastic is made out of oil under the ground.
Food breaks down after a while.
If we run out of room at one dump, we have to cut more trees down. We need trees and can't just cut them down for more armlandfills, so landfills are not the best option.
Food comes from farms.
We got to look at look at waste and talk about how we would sort the rubbish.
